The Robots Are Here And They’re Breaking Sh*t.

Now that we’ve settled into life with AI, it appears all is not as rosey as promised. At Buyer, we’ve been evaluating numerous AI recruiting solutions for our clients and have noticed a trend…problems. AI promised us technical nirvana with increased applicant flow and more importantly, better quality candidates.

And yes, when everything went as planned, AI agents did save us time and resources by successfully matching, screening, scheduling, and speeding up applicant flow, however, nothing has consistently gone as planned.

Here are a few of the challenges we’ve encountered recently with AI and recruiting:

  • Purposeful duplication of candidates submitted by AI Agents into our client’s Applicant Tracking Systems degrading analytics.
  • Poor candidate matching due to AI Agents bypassing key information on career sites.
  • Disgruntled candidates, unaware that AI submitted applications on their behalf resulting in frustration on both sides of the hiring process.
  • Incorrect job postings and/or poor search results due to AI misinterpreting data caused by poor prompt engineering.
  • Or my favorite, promised AI solutions, that turned out to be overseas recruiters manually sourcing candidates – old school.

On a positive note, we’ve also seen AI work very well in recruiting and believe these examples are not the norm but reminders to exercise caution when adopting AI. So learn from these examples or find an experienced partner like Buyer to help you avoid these pitfalls in the first place because the future of AI in recruiting is rosey, but only if you know how to avoid the thorns.
